WORCESTER, Mass. - Holy Cross freshman forward Jay Silvia (Burlington, Mass.) has been named the Atlantic Hockey Rookie of the Week for his performance at the Denver Cup on Jan. 2-3 where he had two assists. This is the first time that Silvia has received this honor.
In the 2-2 tie with No. 5 Denver, Silvia assisted on the goal that tied the game at 2-2 in the third period, while in the 4-3 win over Rensselaer he assisted on Holy Cross' first of four straight goals after trailing 2-0 after the first period. For the year, Silvia has four goals and five assists for nine points. He is tied for fourth on the team in goals and assists, while he is tied for fifth in points.
The Crusaders return to action on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 9-10, when they take on Atlantic Hockey opponent American International in a home-and-home series. Friday's game will be in Worcester, Mass., at 7:00 p.m., while the second game of the series will be at the Olympia Ice Center in West Springfield, Mass., also at 7:00 p.m.
