Crusaders rally late to tie game

Worcester, Mass. - The Holy Cross men's ice hockey rallied with two late third period goals to tie the game at 2-all against Air Force, Friday night at the Hart Center.

After falling to 2-0, the Crusaders squeezed in two goals in the last two minutes of the period to send the game into overtime. With an empty net, junior Pierre Napert-Frenette (Bathurst, N.B.) found the back of the net from the top of the circle with 1:34 remaining on the clock to pull the Crusaders within one. Jon Landry (Lexington, Mass.) and Tony Coskren (Walpole, Mass.) were credited with the assist.

With seconds remaining and the net empty again, the Crusaders evened the score on goal by junior Blair Bartlett (Dryden, Ont.), who scored from the left face-off circle. Senior captain Andrew McKay (Bellefeuille, Que.) and sophomore James Sixsmith (Alexandria, Va.) assisted with the goal.

Sophomore Andrew Ramsey (Noblesville, Ind.) put the Falcons on the board first on the power-play at 15:18 into the first period.

After a shutout second period, Air Force went up 2-0, with another power-play goal by Junior Matt Bader (Beaverton, Ore.) at 9:07 into the third.

Junior Tony Quesada (South Freeport, Maine) made 32 saves for Holy Cross, while Falcon's Peter Foster (Canton, Mich.) halted 28 shots.

The Crusaders, who are now 1-1-1 , return to the Hart Center on Saturday, Oct. 30 to close the two-game series against Air Force at 7:30 p.m.
