Holy Cross Men's Hockey Ties Army, 2-2

WEST POINT, N.Y. - Junior Dale Reinhardt (Livingston, N.J.) scored a goal and added an assist as the Holy Cross men's hockey team tied Army, 2-2, in Atlantic Hockey action Wednesday evening at Tate Rink. With the tie, the Crusaders are now 7-8-2 overall (6-6-2 AHA), while the Black Knights are 6-6-3 overall (6-3-3 AHA).
The Crusaders wasted little time getting on the scoreboard when freshman Brodie Sheahan (Lethbridge, Alberta) scored his third goal of the season at just 24 seconds into the game. Reinhardt fired a slap shot that was saved by Army goaltender Josh Kassel but he could not control the rebound as Sheahan was there to knock it into the net. Senior James Sixsmith (Alexandria, Va.) was also credited with an assist. The Black Knights tied the game at 1-1 with a power play goal by Robb Ross at the 8:35 mark. For the period, the Crusaders had six shots and went 0-1 on the power play, while Army had 10 shots and went 1-2.
The Black Knights scored the only goal of the second period with 1:20 remaining when Will Ryan netted a goal. Army outshot Holy Cross 7-5 for the period, while the Crusaders went 0-1 on the man-advantage and the Black Knights went 0-2.
The Crusaders tied the game at 2-2 at 8:47 into the third period when Reinhardt scored his team-leading 10th goal of the season. While on the power play, junior Matt Burke (Milton, Mass.) took a slap that was saved, but Sixsmith knocked the rebound to Reinhardt who put it into the left side of the net. The game remained tied through the rest of the third period and through overtime.
Holy Cross sophomore goalie Charlie Lockwood (Breckenridge, Colo.) made his collegiate debut as he stopped 27 shots, while Kassel made 21 saves. The Crusaders had 23 shots and went 1-3 on the power play, while the Black Knights had 29 shots and went 1-4.
The Crusaders will return to action on Friday and Saturday, December 29-30, when they compete in the Toyota UConn Hockey Classic in Storrs, Conn. On Friday, Holy Cross will face UConn is an Atlantic Hockey game, while on Saturday it will face either Colgate or Northeastern.
