Holy Cross Men's Hockey Defeated By RIT, 5-1

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The Holy Cross men's hockey team fell to the Rochester Institute of Technology, 5-1, in Atlantic Hockey action Saturday evening at the Frank Ritter Memorial Ice Arena. With the loss, the Crusaders fall to 7-8-1 overall (6-6-1 AHA), while the Tigers improve to 6-5-2 overall (6-2-1 AHA).
RIT scored the first goal of the game at 3:02 into the first period when Al Mazur netted a power play goal. Almost two minutes later, the Tigers increased their lead to 2-0 with a goal by Matt Crowell. For the period, Holy Cross outshot RIT by a 9-8 margin, while the Crusaders went 0-2 on the power play and the Tigers went 1-1 on the man-advantage.
Steve Pinizzotto gave RIT a 3-0 lead at 2:32 into the second period with a power play goal. The Tigers then made it a 4-0 game at 4:52 with a goal by Dan Ringwald. Junior Brian Kolb (Sandwich, Mass.) put the Crusaders on the scoreboard when he scored his third goal of the season at the 6:04 mark. Freshmen Ryan Driscoll (Dorchester, Mass.) and Rob Forshner (Sundre, Alberta) were credited with assists. Holy Cross had four shots in the second period and went 0-3 on the power play, while RIT took 14 shots and went 1-4.
RIT's Simon Lambert increased the Tigers' lead to 5-1 with a shorthanded goal at the 12:06 mark of the third period for the final goal of the game.
Freshman goaltender Ian Dams (Manotick, Ontario) made 20 saves and is now 5-6-0, while Louis Menard stopped 22 shots and is 3-2-0. RIT outshot Holy Cross, 25-23. The Crusaders went 0-9 on the man-advantage and the Tigers went 2-6.
The Crusaders will return to action on Wednesday, December 6, when they travel to West Point, N.Y., to face Army at 7:00 p.m.
