HC Tops Dalhousie, 4-2, In Exhibition

WORCESTER, Mass. - Freshman Joe Brock (Cumming, Ga.) scored two goals including the game-winner as the Holy Cross men's hockey team defeated Dalhousie University, 4-2, in an exhibition game this afternoon at the Hart Center.
Dalhousie took a 1-0 lead at 7:13 into the first period with a power play goal by Kyle Lamb. For the period, Holy Cross outshot the Tigers, 13-9, while the Crusaders went 0-2 on the power play and Dalhousie went 1-3.
At 2:08 into the second period, Brock tied the game at 1-1 with a power play goal. With just three seconds remaining in the period, Devrin Stonehouse gave the Tigers back the lead with a goal. Holy Cross had 11 shots and went 1-3 on the man-advantage, while Dalhousie had seven shots and went 0-3.
At 1:16 into the third period, freshman Everett Sheen (Lethbridge, Alberta) knocked in a loose puck in front of the net for a power play goal to tie the game at 2-2. Just 48 seconds later, Brock netted his second goal of the game while on the power play to give the Crusaders a 3-2 advantage. Sophomore Peter Lorinser (Marquette, Mich.) added an empty net goal with 19 seconds left for the 4-2 final score.
Holy Cross freshman goalie Adam Roy (Feeding Hills, Mass.) earned the win as he made 15 saves in the first 44:51, while sophomore Ian Dams (Manotick, Ontario) stopped five shots in 15:00 for the Crusaders. Josh Disher made 33 saves for the Tigers.
Holy Cross outshot Dalhousie, 37-22, while the Crusaders went 3-8 on the power play and the Tigers went 1-10.
The Crusaders open the 2007-2008 regular season when they host Niagara on Saturday, October 13 at the Hart Center at 7:00 p.m.
