Jeffrey Reppucci To Receive Cooney Award

WORCESTER, Mass. – Senior Jeffrey Reppucci (Newburyport, Mass.), a member of the Holy Cross men's ice hockey program, has been selected as the 2013-2014 winner of the Honorable John P. Cooney Memorial Award. Presented by the Holy Cross Varsity Club in memory of Judge John P. Cooney (Class of 1923), the Cooney Award goes to a senior letterwinner who performed beyond all expectations with courage, loyalty and dedication.
 
Reppucci spent three seasons on the Holy Cross men's ice hockey team, then served as a student assistant coach during his senior year due to injury. He played in 61 career games, tallying 24 points on four goals and 20 assists. Reppucci was named to the Atlantic Hockey All-Rookie team in 2010-2011, while twice being selected as the Atlantic Hockey Rookie of the Week. In addition, he was a three-time selection to the Atlantic Hockey All-Academic team.

A 2013 Truman Scholar and a 2013 Rhodes Scholarship finalist, Reppucci received a 2012 Katherine Wasserman Davis Fellowship for the Study of Critical Languages and a 2012 Davis 100 Projects for Peace Grant. He also won a 2012-2013 Marshal Fund Grant for community development, a $10,000 Desmaris Scholarship for Academic and Community Leadership, a $6,000 Dana Scholarship for Academic Excellence and Leadership and a $3,000 McCarthy Scholarship for Exceptional Academic Achievement.
 
The 2014 recipient of the Hockey Humanitarian Award, Reppucci is the founder and president of the non-profit organization Students Helping Children Across Borders, an organization which has designed, fundraised and executed over $125,000 worth of infrastructural development projects and community programming in five different countries (United States, Russia, Argentina, Haiti and Uganda). He is also the founder and executive director of Working for Worcester, a project that mobilized 540 college students from seven Worcester area colleges and universities to construct over $62,000 worth of infrastructural improvements last year.

Reppucci will be presented with the Cooney Award at the 59th annual Holy Cross Varsity Club Hall of Fame Dinner & Ceremonial Banquet, to be held on Saturday, May 3, at 5:00 p.m. in the Hogan Campus Center.
