Shayne Stockton Signs With Columbus Cottonmouths Of The SPHL

COLUMBUS, Ga. - Holy Cross graduating senior forward Shayne Stockton (Rochester, N.Y.) has signed an Amateur Tryout (ATO) agreement with the SPHL's Columbus Cottonmouths. Stockton will wear #72 for the Cottonmouths and is expected to make his professional debut this weekend.

Stockton played in 131 career games for the Crusaders scoring 38 goals and tallying 56 assists for 94 points. His six career game-winning goals are tied for ninth all-time in the school's Division I history. This season, Stockton netted nine goals and 13 assists for 22 points in his 29 games played, the third most points on the team. Stockton led the team last season with his 28 points from 13 goals and 15 assists. Stockton led the freshman class in 2010-2011 with 25 points, the sixth most by a freshman in school's Division I history. His nine goals that year were tied for the 10th most at the time by a rookie in school history for Division I play. Stockton also posted 16 assists that season, tied for the fifth most among rookies in Holy Cross' Division I era. He has received Atlantic Hockey Weekly honors twice in his career and was the AHA Rookie of the Month in March of 2011.
