WORCESTER, Mass. - Holy Cross graduating senior forward Adam Schmidt (Warrington, Pa.) has signed an Amateur Tryout (ATO) agreement with the AHL's Worcester Sharks as announced by General Manager Joe Will. The Sharks are the affiliate of the NHL's San Jose Sharks. Schmidt will wear #26 for the Sharks and is expected to make his professional debut this weekend.

Schmidt played in an all-time program record-setting 151 games in his career at Holy Cross. Schmidt totaled 52 goals and 60 assists for 112 career points. On Saturday, Feb. 1, Schmidt netted a pair of goals that made him the 41st player at Holy Cross to reach the prestigious milestone of 100 career points and only the 11th player in the school's Division I history. Schmidt's 52 goals are the sixth most in a Division I career at Holy Cross, while his 112 points rank him ninth. Schmidt scored nine game-winners, which tied him for the fifth most in Division I at the school in a career. He scored four short-handed goals which are tied for second in Division I program history. He is also one of two players in Division I program history to tally multiple career hat tricks. Schmidt finished his career with a +16 ranking, the ninth highest among all Division I players at Holy Cross.

This season marked the fourth consecutive year in which Schmidt had scored at least 20 points making him the 10th player in Division I history to tally these numbers. This season, his two short-handed goals tied him for the fourth most in a single season at the college. Schmidt led the team this year with 29 points including a team-high 14 goals and a team-second 15 assists.

During the summer of 2013, Schmidt participated in the New York Rangers' training camp. As a sophomore Schmidt led the team with a career-high 18 goals, 19 assists and 37 points. His 18 goals that season are tied for the fourth most goals by a Division I Crusader. In the 2011-2012 season, Schmidt earned second-team All-Atlantic Hockey honors and was named the team's MVP for the season. Schmidt earned AHA weekly honors three times in his career and is a three-time Crusader of the Week honoree. Schmidt was also named the HCA National Division I Player of the Month in February of 2012. Schmidt is the most recent Holy Cross player to score a hat trick, and one of only two players to score a hat trick in a single period during the program's Division I era.
