Men’s Hockey To Hold Fifth Annual “Pink The Rink” On February 15

WORCESTER, Mass. – On Saturday, Feb. 15, the Holy Cross men's hockey program will host its fifth annual "Pink the Rink" at the Hart Center during its game versus Connecticut at 7:00 p.m. The team will be wearing a special edition white and pink jersey to show its support for breast cancer awareness. The jerseys will be auctioned off throughout the game with all proceeds going to Pink Revolution, which is an alliance of dedicated individuals with a unified commitment to those touched by breast cancer. Its mission is to support early detection and prevention strategies, fund clinical research advancements and promote survivorship programs in Central Mass. through its affiliation with the UMass Memorial Comprehensive Breast Center.

A ceremonial puck drop will feature Nancy Vidal, mother of sophomore forward Matt Vidal (Manorville, N.Y.) and a breast cancer survivor. Also a limited amount of special edition "Pink the Rink" t-shirts will be available for purchase along with a chuck-a-puck competition during an intermission and a 50/50 raffle.

There will be 28 game jerseys available to bid on during the silent auction with a minimum bid of $100.00 for each jersey. The auction will start at 6:00 p.m. The jersey numbers that will be available in the auction are #1, #2, #3, #4, #5, #6, #7, #8, #10, #11, #12, #14, #15, #18, #19, #20, #21, #22, #23, #24, #26, #27, #28, #29, #30, #33, #35, and #44. Also a jersey autographed by the entire team will also be auctioned off at the game. If you want to bid on a jersey and will not be in attendance at the game please e-mail head coach Paul Pearl at by Feb. 8.

"Pink the Rink" is part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month at Holy Cross as the women's ice hockey team is hosting its "Pink the Rink" on Feb. 14, and the women's basketball team will hold its "Think Pink Day" on Feb. 15.

This year, "Pink the Rink" will be held during winter homecoming. Following the game, the Holy Cross Club of Greater Worcester will be presenting a trophy to the MVP of the game.

For the third straight season, every time the Holy Cross men's hockey team scores a power play goal in the Hart Center, money pledged will benefit PINK Revolution. For more information and to donate go here:
