WORCESTER, Mass. - Sophomore forward Matt Vidal (Manorville, N.Y.) has been named the GoHolyCross.com Crusader of the Week, for competition from November 25-December 1. Vidal helped lead the Holy Cross men's ice hockey team to a 5-4 victory over No. 7 Boston College in its only game last week.
During Friday's contest against the Eagles, Vidal recorded three points on a goal and two assists. His first assist came on a goal by sophomore forward Castan Sommer (Shrewsbury, Mass.) which put the Crusaders up 2-0 in the first period, then he had another assist when freshman forward Mike Barrett (Orland Park, Ill.) scored in the second period to make the score 4-1. At the 16:53-mark of the second period, Vidal netted what proved to be the game-winning goal when he gave Holy Cross a 5-1 lead.
On the season, Vidal is now tied for second on the team in scoring with seven points on two goals and five assists. Over the course of his collegiate career, he has totaled three goals and nine assists for 12 points.
Holy Cross (4-9 overall, 3-4 Atlantic Hockey) returns to action on Friday, Dec. 6, when it plays host to Air Force at 7:00 p.m.
