Holy Cross Graduate Matt Clune Signs With The ECHL's Ontario Reign

ONTARIO, Calif.­ – 2012 Holy Cross graduate defenseman Matt Clune (Toronto, Ontario) has agreed to terms with the ECHL's Ontario Reign. The Ontario Reign, 2011-2012 Pacific Division Champions, are the affiliate of the NHL's 2012 Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings. The Reign started its preseason last night (Oct. 4) with a 3-1 victory over the Las Vegas Wranglers. Clune joins former Holy Cross teammates Brodie Sheahan (2010 graduate) and Everett Sheen (2011 graduate), who are also members of the team.  

At Holy Cross, Clune played in 140 career games which are seventh all-time at the school in games played. In his senior year, he posted a career-best 16 assists and 20 points. His 16 assists were fourth on the team. For his career he tallied 14 goals and 39 assists for 53 points. He is a two-time member of the Atlantic Hockey All-Academic team and the recipient of the 2012 Michael P. Quinn Award, which is given to the best defensive Holy Cross hockey player over the course of the season. Following his career at Holy Cross, Clune appeared in three games with the ECHL's Stockton Thunder during their 2011-2012 season.
