WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross athletic director Richard M. Regan, Jr., and head men's hockey coach Paul Pearl have announced the Crusaders' schedule for the 2012-2013 season. There will be a total of 17 home games at the Hart Center for Holy Cross this season, beginning with an exhibition contest against St. Thomas on Oct. 6. Last year, Holy Cross went 12-3-2 at home. The Crusaders will also play a game at the New England Sports Center in Marlborough, Mass., versus Yale on Dec. 30. The Crusaders begin the regular season on the road versus AIC on Oct. 16. The home-opener is against UConn on Oct. 26.
The Crusaders will play seven non-conference games this season including two at home versus first-year varsity program Penn State (Dec. 7 and 8) and one versus Yale (Dec. 30) at the New England Sports Center. Holy Cross will also play road games versus Clarkson (Oct. 20), Brown (Nov. 25) and North Dakota (Jan. 4 and 5).
Holy Cross will play five Atlantic Hockey teams three times (AIC, Army, Bentley, Connecticut and Sacred Heart), while the Crusaders will take on six teams twice (Air Force, Canisius, Mercyhurst, Niagara, RIT and Robert Morris).
All 12 schools will compete in the Atlantic Hockey Tournament with the top four teams earning a first round bye. The first round will be on March 8-10, while the quarterfinals are on March 15-17. Both rounds are best two-out-of-three. The semifinals (March 22) and the finals (March 23) will be held in Rochester, N.Y.
