Matt Ginn Named Atlantic Hockey Rookie Of The Week
WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross freshman goalie Matt Ginn (Lindsey, Ontario) has been named the Team Travel USA Atlantic Hockey Rookie of the Week for his performance in wins versus American International on Feb. 3-4. He went 2-0-0 in the two-game series versus AIC as he only allowed one goal and posted 53 saves. Ginn tallied a 0.50 goals against average and a .981 save percentage. This is the first time in his career that he has been named Rookie of the Week, while this is his second weekly honor as he earned Goalie of the Week accolades on Dec. 5. He was also named the Atlantic Hockey Rookie of the Month for December.
Ginn made 28 saves in the 6-1 win on Friday, while on Saturday he posted 25 saves and tallied his second shutout of the season in the 4-0 victory. Ginn has made 387 saves and is 9-6-1 this season.
The Crusaders (12-13-3, 10-8-3 Atlantic Hockey) return to action on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 10-11, when they travel to West Point, N.Y., for two games with Atlantic Hockey opponent Army (3-15-7, 2-13-5 Atlantic Hockey) at Tate Rink at 7:00 p.m. The Crusaders defeated Army earlier this season by a 3-1 score on Dec. 10.
