WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross freshman goalie Matt Ginn (Lindsay, Ontario) has been named the Team Travel USA Atlantic Hockey Goalie of the Week for his performance in wins versus Canisius on Dec. 2-3. He went 2-0-0 on the week with a 1.00 goals against average and a .938 save percentage. Ginn made 30 saves and allowed two goals in the two wins over Canisius. This is the first time in his career that he has earned this honor.
In the 3-2 victory on Dec. 2, Ginn posted 16 saves and recorded his first collegiate assist. Then on Dec. 3, he notched his first collegiate shutout as he made 14 saves in the 4-0 win. Ginn is now 5-5-0 on the season and has made 252 saves.
The Crusaders (7-7-0, 5-4-0 Atlantic Hockey) return to action on Saturday, Dec. 10, when they play Atlantic Hockey opponent Army (1-7-6, 1-5-4 Atlantic Hockey) at the Hart Center at 4:00 p.m. The Holy Cross men's hockey program will be raising money for the Massachusetts Soldiers Legacy Fund (MSLF) which provides educational assistance grants to the children of Massachusetts service members who were killed while deployed on Operations Enduring and Iraqi Freedom. The team will be wearing a special edition camouflage jersey to show its support. The jerseys will be auctioned off throughout the game with all proceeds going to the fund. Tickets are five dollars for veterans and current members of the armed services. A limited amount of special edition Holy Cross hockey camouflage t-shirts will be available for purchase. There will be 26 game jerseys available to bid on during the silent auction with a minimum bid of $150.00 for each jersey. The jersey numbers that will be available in the auction are #1, #3, #4, #5, #6, #7, #8, #10, #11, #12, #14, #15, #17, #19, #20, #21, #23, #24, #26, #27, #28, #29, #30, #33, #35 and #44. Jersey #2 will be raffled off to a student at the game. The auction will start at 3:00 p.m.
