WORCESTER, Mass – Holy Cross freshman forward Shayne Stockton (Rochester, N.Y.) has been named the Atlantic Hockey Rookie of the Month. He tied for second on the team with three goals and five points for the month of March. This is the first time that Stockton has earned this honor. He was named the Atlantic Hockey Rookie of the Week two times this past season.
Stockton recorded at least one point in all four games. He scored the game-winner in the 7-3 game three Atlantic Hockey Tournament quarterfinal clinching victory over Canisius on March 13. He also recorded an assist in the game. For the season he recorded nine goals and 16 assists for 25 points. He ranked fourth on the team in points, was tied for fourth in assists and was fifth in goals.
The Crusaders concluded the season with a 17-16-5 overall record. The Crusaders' 17 overall wins are the most in a season since it won a school record 27 games in 2005-2006 and went 27-10-2. Also their 14 Atlantic Hockey wins are their most in a season since they won a program-best 19 games with a 19-7-2 record in 2005-2006. This was the first time since the 2005-2006 season that the Crusaders had advanced past the quarterfinals of the Atlantic Hockey Tournament. In 2006 the Crusaders won their second AHA championship.
