WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross freshman forward Shayne Stockton (Rochester, N.Y.) has been named the Atlantic Hockey Rookie of the Week for his performance in the two-game series versus Sacred Heart on Feb. 18 and 20. Stockton recorded a total of four assists in the series. This is the second time this season that Stockton has earned this honor.
He tallied two assists in the 3-2 win on Friday, including an assist on the game-winner, while he also recorded two assists in the 3-3 tie on Sunday, including one on the goal that tied the game at 3-3. For the season, Stockton is fourth on the team with 19 points and he is tied for fourth with 13 assists. He also has six goals.
The Crusaders (14-14-4 overall, 13-8-4 Atlantic Hockey) return to action on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 25-26, when they play a home-and-home series with Atlantic Hockey opponent Bentley (10-16-5 overall, 9-12-4 Atlantic Hockey) to conclude the regular season. Friday's game will be Senior Night at the Hart Center at 7:00 p.m., while Saturday's game will be played at the John A. Ryan Skating Arena at 7:00 p.m. The Falcons defeated the Crusaders by a 5-2 score this season on Nov. 20.
During the last nine games the Crusaders are 7-0-2 and have outscored their opponents by a 41-17 margin. Holy Cross has averaged 4.6 goals per game and has allowed 1.9 goals per contest during this streak. The Crusaders' nine-game unbeaten streak is tied for the second longest in school history. The longest is when Holy Cross went 10-0-0 between Dec. 8, 1979-Jan. 16, 1980. This streak is also currently tied for the longest in the nation as Union is 9-0-0 over its last nine contests.
