Men's Hockey Game Versus Russian Junior United Team Moved To Dec. 27

WORCESTER, Mass.­ – The Holy Cross men's hockey team's exhibition game versus the Russian Junior United Team at the Hart Center has been moved to Monday, Dec. 27, at 7:00 p.m. The game was scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 4. The Red Stars consist of players selected from different teams in the Russian Junior Hockey League (RJHL). Admission to this game will be free to the public. The Russian Junior United Team is also playing Army (Dec. 28) and Yale (Dec. 29).

The Red Stars are a team of elite young players from Russia, Latvia and Belarus. The RJHL is the 29-team developmental junior league organized in 2009 by Russian professional hockey clubs playing in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). Players in this junior league are between the ages of 16 and 21.  The majority of the players on the Red Stars roster are ages 19-21.

The team will be coached by Alexander Semak, current head coach of Tolpar Ufa and a former star player from Dynamo Moscow and several international teams for Russia. Between 1990 and 1997, Semak played a total of 289 games in the NHL with New Jersey, Tampa, Vancouver and the New York Islanders.

The Crusaders (6-7-2, 5-3-2 Atlantic Hockey) will compete at the Toyota UConn Holiday Classic in Storrs, Conn., on Dec. 29-30. Holy Cross will play an Atlantic Hockey game versus UConn on Dec. 29, while it will take on either Bowling Green or Princeton on Dec. 30.
