WORCESTER, Mass. – Current Holy Cross senior captain Everett Sheen (Lethbridge, Alberta) and junior Jay Silvia (Burlington, Mass.) participated at NHL development camps in July. Sheen attended the Philadelphia Flyers' camp, while Silvia participated at the New York Islanders' camp.
This was the third time that Sheen has attended a NHL development camp, as he participated at the Washington Capitals' development camp in the summer of 2009 and the Anaheim Ducks' conditioning camp in the summer of 2008. Philadelphia's camp was at the The Virtua Center Flyers Skate Zone from July 5-12. On July 8 the players competing in a triathlon which included cycling, kayaking and running. The competition was then followed by a charity softball game.
The Islanders' camp started on July 7 and featured the Orange vs. Blue Scrimmage on July 10 at the Nassau Coliseum with 4,940 fans in attendance. Silvia was a member of the Orange team that won the contest 5-4. The night also had a skills competition.
Both camps featured recent draft picks, select rookie players and other prospects, and included on- and off-ice workouts.
