Golf Team Begins Preparations For 2005-2006 Season

WORCESTER, Mass. - With the 2004-2005 season now complete, the Holy Cross men's golf team is looking ahead to the 2005-2006 campaign. Next year's team will be led by senior Sean Melia (Acton, Mass.), who will serve as team captain. He takes over for departed seniors Emmet Ferriter (West Simsbury, Conn.) and Tim Marquis (East Hampton, N.Y.), who are lost due to graduation.

Joining Melia on the roster will be sophomore Matt Czarnecki (Greenwich, Conn.), junior Chris Gorczyca (Mashpee, Mass.), sophomore Joe Hajjar (Mahwah, N.J.) and sophomore Ryan Kenny (Medford, Mass.). All other players off the 2004-2005 roster, in addition to all prospective candidates for the team, must qualify for the remaining five spots.

The qualifying tournament will be held on September 3, 4, 10 and 11 at Heritage Golf Club in Charlton, Mass. Tee times will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Sept. 3 and 4, and at 7:30 a.m. on Sept. 10 and 11.
