Holy Cross Men's Golf Wraps Up 2008-2009 Season

  • The Crusaders wrapped up the 2008-2009 season by placing seventh at the Patriot League Championship, held at the West Point Golf Course in West Point, N.Y. Holy Cross finished the tournament with a three-round total of 952 strokes.
  • Sophomore James Widman (Middlebury, Conn.) tied for the best score on the team at the Patriot League Championship with 238 strokes, to finish in a tie for 32nd place overall. He shot a 77 in the final round, after carding a 79 in the second round and an 82 in the opening round. On the season, Widman averaged 80.7 strokes per round, good for the best average on the team. He posted the lowest score on the team four times in nine tournaments this season.
  • Sophomore Tim McGovern (Oradell, N.J.) tied with Widman for the best score on the team at the Patriot League Championship with 238 strokes, to finish in a tie for 32nd place overall. McGovern shot a 78 in the first round, followed by a 77 in the second round and an 83 in the final round. He finished the season ranked second on the team with an average of 80.9 strokes per round. McGovern also posted the lowest score on the team four times in nine tournaments this year.
