Crusaders Place 17th At NEIGA Championship

Brewster, Mass. - The Holy Cross men's golf team finished in 17th-place with a final score of 647 after two-rounds of golf at the Captain's Club, Monday-Tuesday, Oct. 18-19.

Leading the Crusaders was Joe Hajjar ( Mahwah , N.J. ) who tied for 19th with a two-round score of 155. The freshman shot a five over, par-76 in the first round and a seven over, par-79 in the second.

Senior captain Emmit Ferriter ( W. Simsbury , Conn. ) tied for 66th with a final score of 162, while Matt Czarnecki ( Greenwich , Conn. ) and Greg Pasciucco ( Summit , N.J./Delbarton) both tied for 90th place with two-round scores of 190.

Sophomores Chris Gorczyca ( Mashapee , Mass. ) closed out the Crusader line-up with a final score of 172, good enough to tie for 160th.

Holy Cross was 41 strokes behind tournament winner Connecticut who finished with a final score of 606. Sacred Heart's Patrick Fillian won the individual tournament with a two-round score of 145. Fillian tied for first-place with Rhode Island 's Ben Spitz and won after a playoff round.

The Crusaders return to action on Sunday-Monday, Oct. 24-25, at the Toski Invitational, held at the Hickory Ridge Country Club in Amherst , Mass.
