West Point, N.Y. - The Holy Cross men's golf team finished in 11th-place with a final score of 614 after two-rounds of golf at the 6,036-yard, par-70 West Point Golf Club, Saturday-Sunday, Oct. 2-3.
Leading the Crusaders was newcomer Matt Czarnecki (Greenwich, Conn), who shot a team low-round of 72 in the first. The freshman finished the second-round with a score of five-above par-75 for a final score of 147 to tie for 15th-place.
Finishing tied for 48th was freshman Joe Hajjar (Mahwah, N.J.) with a final-score of 154 (75-79). Senior captain Emmit Ferriter (W. Simsbury, Conn.) placed in a tie for 51 st place with a score of 155.
Sophomores Chris Gorczyca (Mashapee, Mass.) and Mike Povemba (White Plains, N.Y.) finished tied for 57th and 72nd, respectively. Gorczyca shot a final score of 158, while Povemba finished with a final score of 167.
The Crusaders return to action on Monday, Oct. 4 at the Worcester City Championship held at the Heritage Golf Club in Charlton , Mass.
