Portsmouth, R.I. - The Holy Cross men's golf team finished eighth at the URI Spring Invitational after one round with a score of 323.
After the final round was canceled due to weather, senior captain Emmet Ferriter (W. Simsbury, Conn.) came out in second-place with a one-round score of two-under par-69. Ferriter shot a 35 on the front nine and closed with a 34 on the back.
Freshman Ryan Kenny (Medford, Mass.) posted a final-score of 83 tie for 35th-place. Senior captain Tim Marquis (East Hampton, Mass.) tied for 47th with a one-round score of 85, while freshman Matt Czarnecki (Greenwich, Conn.) hit 86 for a final-score to tie for 50th.
The Crusaders placed 31 stokes behind host and winner Rhode Island. Taking the individual trophy was Tim Johnson of George Washington, who finished one stroke ahead of Holy Cross' Ferriter.
The tournament concludes Holy Cross' 2005 spring season.
