Matt Czarnecki Wins 2007 Patriot League Title

LEWISBURG, Pa. -- Junior Matt Czarnecki (Greenwich, Conn.) shot a two-over par 212 over three rounds to claim the individual title at the 2007 Patriot League Golf Championship, held at the Bucknell University Golf Course on Saturday and Sunday. As a team, the Crusaders finished in a tie for sixth place with a total of 913 strokes. Bucknell won the team title with a 883 total strokes.
Czarnecki carded rounds of 73 (three-over par), 68 (two-under par) and 71 (one-over par) to take first place by one stroke over Chris Renninger of Navy. Throughout the 54-hole tournament, Czarnecki recorded nine birdies to lead the field. His score of 212 tied for the ninth-lowest score in Patriot League Championship history. He also becomes the first Holy Cross player to ever win the Patriot League men's golf title as an individual.
Junior Ryan Kenny (Medford, Mass.) had the second-best score of the weekend for Holy Cross, finishing in 22nd place with 229 strokes. Junior Joe Hajjar (Mahwah, N.J.) and senior Chris Gorczyca (Mashpee, Mass.) tied for 35th place with totals of 238 strokes, while senior Casey Turner (Franklin, Mass.) finished 39th (245 strokes) and freshman Anthony Ardito (Portland, Maine) was 41st (251 strokes).
The 2006-2007 season is now complete for the Holy Cross men's golf team.
