STOW, Mass.- The Holy Cross men's golf "A" team placed second out of 20 teams at the 33rd Annual Lou Flumere Invitational at Stow Acres Country Club North Course this afternoon. Junior Chris Gorczyca (Mashpee, Mass.) led the Crusaders as he tied for second place with a round of 73 which was only one stroke behind the winner. Salem State (302) won the event, followed by Holy Cross (306) and UMass-Dartmouth (308). The Holy Cross "B" team finished tied for 15th with Franklin Pierce with a total of 337.
Sophomore Joe Hajjar (Mahwah, N.J.) had the second best round of the day for the Crusaders with a 76 which was good enough for a tie for ninth. Sophomore Matt Czarnecki (Greenwich, Conn.) shot a round of 78 for a tie for 16th, while freshman Brian Flood (Forest Hills, N.Y.) tied for 21st with a 79. Senior captain Sean Melia (Acton, Mass.) led the "B" squad with a round of 80 and a tie for 30th.
The Crusaders conclude their season on Saturday and Sunday, April 22-23, when they compete at the Patriot League Championship in Annapolis, Md.
