STOW, Mass. - Junior Matt Czarnecki (Greenwich, Conn.) shot a two-over par 74, to lead the Holy Cross men's golf team to a third-place finish at the Lou Flumere Invitational, played at the Stow Acres Country Club. Czarnecki finished in a three-way for the best round of the day, but finished in third place individually in a playoff. The Crusaders had a team total of 316 strokes, to finish behind only Salem State (307) and UMass-Dartmouth (312). A second Holy Cross team taking part in the tournament placed 17th with 343 strokes.
Junior Joe Hajjar (Mahwah, N.J.) came in 14th overall with a 74, while senior Casey Turner (Franklin, Mass.) finished 27th with an 81. Junior Ryan Kenny (Medford, Mass.) was 36th with an 82, freshman Taylor Scott (Meredith, N.H.) placed 44th with an 83, and senior Chris Gorczyca (Mashpee, Mass.) came in 49th with an 84.
The Crusaders return to action this Saturday and Sunday, April 14 and 15, when they take part in the New England Division I Championship at the Triggs Memorial Golf Course in Providence, R.I.
