NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Sophomore Joe Hajjar (Mahwah, N.J.) placed 18th individually with a seven-over-par 77, to lead the Holy Cross men's golf team to a 13th place finish at the Yale Spring Open, held at the Course at Yale on Sunday. The competition was originally scheduled for two rounds, but play on Saturday was wiped out due to rain. The Crusaders finished with a total of 326 strokes in the event, which was won by Oklahoma Christian University (302 strokes). A total of 19 teams took part in the meet.
Following Hajjar, sophomore Matt Czarnecki (Greenwich, Conn.) had Holy Cross' next-best score with a 10-over-par 80 for 43rd place. Freshman Joe DePanfilis (Keene, N.H.) finished 70th with an 83, while junior Chris Gorczyca (Mashpee, Mass.) had an 86 to finish 80th. Freshman Pat Brown (Silver Spring, Md.), who competed as an individual, finished with an 85.
The Holy Cross men's golf team returns to action on April 22-23, when it takes part in the Patriot League Championship, to be held at the U.S. Naval Academy Golf Course in Annapolis, Md.
