Men's Golf Places Seventh At Rich Korzec Invitational

SUTTON, Mass. - The Holy Cross men's golf team finished in seventh place out of 10 teams at the Rich Korzec Memorial Invitational held at the Blackstone National Golf Club on Tuesday afternoon. Rhode Island College won the rain-shortened nine-hole event with a team score of 152 strokes (+8), as Holy Cross came in with a combined score of 170 strokes (+26).

Holy Cross also competed with Nichols and Worcester State for the annual Worcester City Trophy during the event, as the Crusaders finished in second. Nichols claimed the trophy with a total score of 161 strokes (+17), while Worcester State came in third with 173 strokes (+29).

The Crusaders were led by senior captain Tim DiStefano (Albany, N.Y.) who carded a plus-three 39, which tied him for fourth place. Junior John Reali (Searingtown, N.Y.) finished tied for 20th with a nine-hole score of 42 (+6), while classmate Craig Norton (Foxboro, Mass.) came in with a plus-seven 43, which tied him for 29th place.

Holy Cross freshman Jack O'Leary (Trumbull, Conn.) and junior Connor Burfeind (Falmouth, Maine) rounded out the Crusaders with scores of 46 (+10) and 50 (+14), respectively.

The Crusaders return to action on Saturday and Sunday, April 19-20, with the Yale Spring Open held at the Yale Golf Club.
