BALTIC, Conn. – The Holy Cross men's golf team finished in eighth place out of 10 teams at the New England Division I Championship held at the par-72 Mohegan Sun Country Club on Saturday and Sunday, April 12-13. The Crusaders finished with a combined team score of 639 strokes, while Hartford claimed the tournament win with a team total of 571 strokes.
Holy Cross was led by senior captain Peter Cahill (Wellesley. Mass.) who finished in a tie for 13th place with a two-round total of 149 strokes (+5). Crusader senior captain Tim DiStefano (Albany, N.Y.) carded a total score of 158 (+14), which tied him for 34th place, while junior John Reali (Searingtown, N.Y.) placed in 42nd with a total score of 165 (+26). Junior Connor Burfeind (Falmouth, Maine) and senior Matt Campbell (York, Maine) rounded out the scoring for the Crusaders with two-day totals of 167 strokes (+28) and 190 strokes (+46), respectively.
The Crusaders return to action on Tuesday, April 15, when they will compete at the Rich Korzec Invitational at the Blackstone National Golf Club.
