CHARLTON, Mass. – Holy Cross senior co-captain Steve Zychowski (Mendham, N.J.) shot an even-par 71 as he won medalist honors to help lead the Holy Cross "Purple" team to a first place finish at the Assumption Shootout held at the Par-72 Heritage Country Club on Tuesday, April 16. The Holy Cross "Purple" team shot a team score of 301 (+17), while the Holy Cross "White" team finished in fourth place with a combined score of 314 (+30).
In addition to Zychowski for the purple team, junior Tim DiStefano (Albany, N.Y.) placed in fourth as an individual with a plus-four, 75. Senior co-captains Roberto Machado (Miami, Fla.) and Michael McCarthy (Tolland, Conn.) shot a 77 (+6) and 78 (+7), respectively, while junior Peter Cahill (Wellesley, Mass.) rounded out the purple team with an 82 (+11).
Holy Cross junior John Reali (Searingtown, N.Y.) led the white team with a scorecard of 77 (+6). Crusaders junior Ryan Kessler (Garden City, N.Y.) and sophomore Craig Norton (Foxboro, Mass.) shot scores of 78 (+7). Freshman Jonah Choe (Billerica, Mass.) carded an 81 (+10), while sophomore Connor Burfeind (Falmouth, Maine) chipped in with an 83 (+12).
The Crusaders will conclude their season on Saturday and Sunday, April 27-28, when they will compete in the Patriot League Championship held at the Saucon Valley Golf Club in Bethlehem, Pa.
