ONSET, Mass. – Holy Cross men's golf senior Steve Zychowski (Mendham, N.J.) and junior Tim DiStefano (Albany, N.Y.) tied for fifth place with two-round totals of 151 (+11) to help lead the Crusaders to a fourth place finish at the Bentley Cape Cod Invitational held at the Par-70 Bay Pointe Country Club on Saturday afternoon.
Holy Cross shot a team score of 620 (+60) as American International won the tournament with a combined mark of 608 (+48) in the 36-hole event. Bentley finished in second place with a total of 614 (+54) as UMass Lowell placed third at 615 (+55).
In addition to Zychowski and DiStefano, senior Michael McCarthy (Tolland, Conn.) carded a score of 158 (+18), which tied him for 18th place. Junior Peter Cahill (Wellesley, Mass.) and sophomore John Reali (Searingtown, N.Y.) finished with scores of 163 (+23; 26th place) and 164 (+24; T27 place), respectively.
DiStefano recorded a season-best score of 73 (+3) in the first round of the tournament.
Holy Cross will return to action on Saturday and Sunday, April 6-7, as it will compete in the Rhody Invitational held at the Green Valley Golf Club in Newport, R.I.
