Men's Golf Ends Season At Rain-Shortened NEIGA Championship

BREWSTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross men's golf team finished in 10th place overall with a team score of 320 at the New England Intercollegiate Golf (NEIGA) Championship held at the Par-72 Captain's Golf Course on Sunday afternoon. The tournament was shortened to one round due to the approaching hurricane. 

Bryant captured the Division I crown with a team score of 316, which tied them for sixth overall. UMass Lowell and St. Anselm would tie for first place overall as a team with a score of 311. 

Holy Cross junior Peter Cahill (Wellesley, Mass.) placed in first among Division I golfers as he defeated Bryant's Kyle Buschmann on the first playoff hole. Cahill shot a four-over 76 which tied him for sixth in the tournament field. Classmate Tim DiStefano (Albany, N.Y.) ended his day tied for 40th with an eight-over 80.

Senior Steve Zychowski (Mendham, N.J.) tied for 51st place with a plus-nine 81.  Classmate Roberto Machado (Miami, Fla.) tied for 78th place with a score of 83 (+11), while fourth-year Michael McCarthy (Tolland, Conn.) placed in 105th with an 18-hole score of 85 (+13).

The Crusaders have concluded their 2012 fall season. Their spring schedule will be released at a later date.
