Men's Golf Concludes 2011-2012 Season

  • The Holy Cross men's golf team completed the 2011-2012 season with a seventh place finish at the 2012 Patriot League championship. The team combined for 935 strokes as Navy edged out Army for the 2012 Patriot League title, finishing the two-day event with 878 strokes.
  • Junior Steve Zychowski (Mendham, N.J.) capped another solid season as the team's top performer in seven of the nine events. He finished with a team-low strokes average of 75.4 in a team-high 21 rounds. He tied his career-low round with a 70 at the Blue Devil Invitational, the first contest of the season. He also won the individual title at the NEIGA Championship in October and earned his first career Patriot League Golfer of the Month accolades for the performance. In all, Zychowski has five top-25 finishes on the season,
  • Sophomore Peter Cahill (Wellesley, Mass.) emerged as a top player in eight total rounds this season. In his first season of playing collegiate golf, Cahill finished with a strokes average of 78.5, tying for second lowest on the team. He recorded a season-low round of 74 twice, coming at the Assumption Shootout and the Patriot League championship. He finished the season with 628 strokes
  • The golf team says goodbye to one senior, team captain Andrew Wong (Wailuku, Hawaii). Wong finished his career on a high note, ranking second on the team in strokes average this season (78.5). He led the team individually once, tying for second place at the Assumption Shootout. His round of 74 in the competition marked a career-low, as his previous low-round was a 76. In all, Wong competed in 41 rounds as a Crusader, totaling 3,273 strokes for a 79.8 strokes average.
