Crusaders Practice And Prepare For Patriot League Championship

  • The Holy Cross men's golf team will the week off to practice and prepare for the 2012 Patriot League Championship, held the weekend of April 28-29. Bucknell is this year's tournament host, as the event will be held at the Bucknell Golf Club in Lewisburg, Pa. Tee times are set for 8:00 a.m. each day.
  • At last year's championship, junior Steve Zychowski (Mendham, N.J.) tallied a three-round score of 216, including a championship-low round of 70 in the third round to lead the Holy Cross men's golf team to a fourth-place finish at the two-day Patriot League Championship, held at the United States Naval Academy Golf Club in Annapolis, Md. The Crusaders finished the championship with a total of 896 strokes (+44) as Zychowski tied for fourth individually. Army took home the Patriot League Championship crown with a team score of 213 (E). Holy Cross' fourth-place finish tied its best finish in program history, also achieved in 2008.
  • Junior Roberto Machado (Miami, Fla.) led the team individually for the first time this season after this weekend's event. Machado combined for a two-day score of 156 and tied for 13th, his best finish this season, at the Rhody Invitational. Machado has competed in all 18 rounds this season and currently has a 78.8 strokes average, third lowest on the squad.
