PORTSMOUTH, R.I. – The Holy Cross men's golf team placed fifth out of seven teams with a two-day final tally of 632 in the Rhody Invitational at the Green Valley Country Club. Junior Roberto Machado (Miami, Fla.) led the Crusaders in the event with a score of 156, tying for 13th individually, his highest individual placement this season. Josh Salah of Sacred Heart won the tournament with a final score of 144.
Junior Steve Zychowski (Mendham, N.J.) followed Machado, tying for 19th and scoring the team's lowest round, a 74 in day two to finish with 157 strokes. Senior Andrew Wong (Wailuku, Hawaii) came in next with a 160 while freshman John Reali (Searingtown, N.Y.) and freshman Connor Burfeind (Falmouth, Maine) rounded out the Crusaders' performances with scores of 161 and 169 respectively. Burfeind made his collegiate debut at the tournament and tallied a low-round of 81 on the second day.
The Crusaders continue spring action at the Patriot League Championship, held from April 28-29. The tournament will be hosted by Bucknell and will be held at the Bucknell Golf Club in Lewisburg, Pa.
