OCEAN VIEW, Del. – The Holy Cross men's golf team placed eighth out of 12 teams with a three-round score of 917 in the George Washington Invitational at the Bear Trap Dunes Golf Club. Junior Steve Zychowski (Mendham, N.J.) led the Crusaders over the two days with a score of 226, tying for 25th individually. Max Marsico of Penn won the tournament with a final score of 212.
Senior Andrew Wong followed Zychowski, tying for 30th and scoring the team's lowest round, a 71 in the third round to mark a career-low. He finished with a three-round score of 227. Freshman John Reali (Searingtown, N.Y.) followed Wong with a score of 231 and tied for 39th. Rounding out the Crusaders' performances were scores of 233 from junior Roberto Machado (Miami. Fla.) and a 257 from sophomore Ryan Kessler (Garden City, N.Y.). Kessler was playing in his first collegiate tournament. Penn took the team crown with a combined score of 866.
The Crusaders continue spring action at the Rhody Invitational, held from April 14-15. The tournament will be held at the Green Valley Country Club in Portsmouth, R.I.
