Men's Golf Picked Sixth In Patriot League Preseason Poll

WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross men's golf team was selected to finish sixth in the 2012 Patriot League preseason poll as voted on by head coaches and sports information directors from around the league. Army, the 2011 Patriot League champions, were picked first, earning 63 points and eight first-place votes.

Navy followed the Black Knights with 60 points and four first-place votes. Lafayette and Bucknell were picked third and fourth, earning 55 and 44 respective points and one first-place vote apiece. Rounding out the poll was Lehigh (28), Holy Cross (23) and Colgate (21). The Crusaders finished fourth in the 2011 Patriot League Championship, tying its best finish in program history. Junior Steve Zychowski (Mendham, N.J.) earned first place All-League honors after placing fourth in the tournament.

Holy Cross opens up its spring slate at the George Washington Invitational, held from March 16-17. The event will be held at the Bear Trap Dunes Golf Course in Ocean View, Del.
