BREWSTER, Mass. –Holy Cross junior men's golfer Steve Zychowski (Mendham, N.J.) took home top individual honors for the first time in his career, winning the individual medal at the 77th annual NEIGA Championship, held at the Captain's Golf Course. Zychowski combined for a two-round score of 146 (two-over-par), leading the Holy Cross team to a fourth-place finish.
Zychowski carded a 71 (one-under-par) in his first round and then followed with a round of 75 while Holy Cross combined for a team score of 610. Junior Roberto Machado (Miami, Fla.) followed Zychowski with a score of 159 and tied for 22nd. Rounding out the Crusaders' performances was a 155 from freshman John Reali (Searingtown. N.Y.), a 156 by sophomore Peter Cahill (Wellesley, Mass.) and a 159 by senior Andrew Wong (Wailuku, Hawaii). Bentley took the team crown with a combined score of 606.
With the result, Holy Cross has now completed its fall schedule. The spring schedule will be announced at a later date.
