SOUTH KENT, Conn. – The Holy Cross men's golf team placed 14th out of 17 teams with a total two-day score of 927 in the Hartford Invitational at the Bull's Bridge Golf Course. Junior Steve Zychowski (Mendham, N.J.) led the Crusaders for the third straight event, tying for 27th with a three-round tally of 225. Jeb Buchanan of Connecticut won the tournament with a final score of 213, winning the playyoff.
Zychowski recorded the lowest round on the team, shooting a 71 in the third round. Senior Andrew Wong (Wailuku, Hawaii) followed Zychowski with a score of 231 and tied for 49th. Rounding out the Crusaders' performances were scores of 239 from junior Roberto Machado (Miami, Fla.), a 240 by sophomore Tim DiStefano (Albany, N.Y.) and a 247 by freshman John Reali (Searingtown, N.Y.). Connecticut took the team crown with a combined score of 868.
The Crusaders return to action at the Assumption Shootout on Tuesday, Oct. 4. The event will take place at the Pleasant Valley Country Club in Sutton, Mass.
