WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross men's golf coach Bob Molt has announced the dates of the qualifier for the 2011-2012 team. The qualifying tournament will be held on Sept. 3 and 4 at the Heritage Golf Club in Charlton, Mass. Play will start from 1:15 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on each day.
Senior captain Andrew Wong (Wailuku, Hawaii), junior Roberto Machado (Miami, Fla.), junior Steven Zychowski (Mendham, N.J.), sophomore Matt Campbell (York, Maine), sophomore Tim DiStefano (Albany, N.Y.) and freshman John Reali are exempt from qualifying for the team and will be on the 2011-2012 roster. All other players off the 2010-2011 roster and prospective candidates for the team must qualify.
Players wanting to play in the qualifier for the team must have a handicap of five strokes or less. This must be verified via a current handicap card or a letter from your club professional. Prospective qualifiers must fax a copy of their current HDCP Card to Molt at (508) 793-3863. They must also fax their name, cell phone number and year they will be at Holy Cross this fall (Fr., So., Jr., Sr.). This information must be received by August 30.
All prospective qualifiers will play 18 holes on Sept. 3-4. Based on the 36-hole scores, the top four qualifiers will qualify for the 2011-2012 team. Van transportation will be provided to and from the golf course. Those needing transportation must be in front of the Hogan Center one hour and 15 minutes before the tee times listed above. Vans will depart at noon. Be on time with your equipment. If you have a car, it would be appreciated if you can help transport players. In the event a round cannot be completed due to darkness or inclement weather, players may be given pars for the holes they did not complete. All players will play the same # of holes. Rain in itself will not cancel a round as long as the course is playable. Players are responsible for their own practice rounds. Call the course to make a tee time (508) 248-2591.
