Three Men's Golfers Garner All-New England Honors
WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross senior Colin Andrade (Assonet, Mass.) and sophomores Steve Zychowski (Mendham, N.J.) and Michael McCarthy (Tolland, Conn.) have earned All-New England Division I Golf Association honors. Zychowski was named to the first team and Andrade earned second team honors while McCarthy picked up an honorable mention.
Zychowski finished as the team's top individual performer on the season. He averaged a team-low 74.5 stokes in 22 rounds played. He shot a low-round of 70 three times, including the last round of the Patriot League Championship. He also led the team individually in six events, including four of the last five outings. He improved his average strokes by almost three from his freshman season, where he averaged 77.2 strokes.
Andrade played in every round on record this season and led the team in two events. In all, Andrade topped the team in seven events dating back to his freshman season. He finished his four years with a strokes average of 79. McCarthy finished second on the team with a 76.9 strokes average and earned his second consecutive second team All-Patriot League honor after finishing 10th at the 2011 Patriot League Championship.
The Holy Cross golf team completed its 2010-2011 season with a fourth place finish at the Patriot League Championship, tying its best placement which was set in 2008.
