Crusaders Ready To Compete For 2011 Patriot League Title

- The Holy Cross men's golf team will now play for the 2011 Patriot League Golf Championship held on Saturday-Sunday, April 30-May 1. The championship will be held in Annapolis, Md. at the United States Naval Academy's Golf Club. The format is a two-day, 54-hole tournament, with 36 holes of play on Saturday and 18 holes scheduled for Sunday. This will be the final event for the Crusaders this season.
- The Crusaders finished seventh at last year's championship and were led by sophomore Steve Zychowski's (Mendham, N.J.) three-round score 224, which placed him in a tie for fourth place. Fellow sophomore Michael McCarthy (Tolland, Mass.) tied for 10th as both players earned All-Patriot League accolades for their top finishes. Lafayette won the 2010 Patriot League title, coming into the tournament having not finished in the top four of the Patriot League Championship since 2003.
- Holy Cross earned its best finish at the 2008 championship, placing fourth. That year, two players were named to the second team (Matt Czarnecki and Ryan Kenny). In all, Holy Cross has had 11 All-Patriot League selections, including seven first team and four second team. Army has won the most championships of any school with eight titles under its belt.
