Men's Golf Picked Seventh In Patriot League Preseason Poll

WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross men's golf team was selected to finish seventh in the 2011 Patriot League preseason poll as voted on by head coaches and sports information directors from around the league. The Navy Midshipmen were picked first, earning 69 points and 10 first-place votes.

Defending Patriot League champion Lafayette followed the Mids, as it was selected to finish second with 53 points and one first-place vote. Rounding out the voting was a tie for third between Army and Bucknell (52 points), Lehigh (39), Colgate (22) and Holy Cross (13). Sophomores Steve Zychowski (Mendham, N.J.) and Michael McCarthy (Tolland, Conn.) earned All-Patriot League honors after their performances at the 2010 Patriot League Championship. Zychowski was named to the first team after finishing fourth and McCarthy was a second team honoree after finishing 10th.

The Crusaders return to action at the Yale Spring Open, held on Saturday, April 2. The event will be held at the Yale Golf Course in new Haven, Conn.
