Crusaders Prepare For Yale Spring Open

- The Holy Cross men's golf team takes a week off to prepare for the Yale Spring Open, held April 2 at the Yale Golf Club in New Haven, Conn. The team placed eighth of 12 teams at the event last season as host Yale won the open with 582 strokes.
- Junior James Widman (Middlebury, Conn.) paced the team for the first time last season at the Open, marking a two round score of 152. Widman currently averages 80.5 strokes per round this year and has played in a total of 10 rounds.
- The Holy Cross team completed the George Washington Invitational with its highest finish in three seasons of competition. The squad finished 11th of 16 in 2010 and 19th of 22 in 2009. The Crusaders also had three players finish within the top-20, another event best.
- Sophomore Steve Zychowski (Mendham, N.J.) registered his third top-10 finish in the team's last event. He placed fifth at the George Washington Invitational, his highest finish this season, with a three-round score of 220. He was just one stroke off a tie for third place and five strokes off the top spot.
