Men's Golf Places Fourth At George Washington Invitational
BETHANY BEACH, Del. – Sophomore Steve Zychowski (Mendham, N.J.) finished with a 220 over three rounds and placed fifth individually, as the Holy Cross men's golf team finished fourth at the George Washington Invitational, held at the Bear Trap Dunes Golf Club in Bethany Beach, Del. As a team, the Crusaders finished with 915 strokes total and earned their highest placement at the invitational in three seasons.
Zychowski would tally his second top-10 performance of the season, leading the team individually for the third time overall. Sophomore Michael McCarthy (Tolland, Conn.) finished next, scoring a 228 to in 16th place. Senior Colin Andrade (Assonet, Mass.) followed one stroke behind McCarthy, shooting a 229 to take 17th. Rounding out the scoring was sophomore Roberto Machado (Miami, Fla.), who tied for 28th with a 238 and senior James Widman (Middlebury, Conn.) with a 248.
Penn won the team title with 880 strokes. Host George Washington's Andres Pumariega won the individual title, shooting a 215..
Holy Cross next competes at the Yale Spring Open, held April 2.
