Men's Golf Takes Fourth At 2010 NEIGA Championship

BREWSTER, Mass. – Senior Colin Andrade (Assonet, Mass.) marked two season-low rounds of 72 to finish with a 144 and tying for third place, one stroke behind the leaders, as the Holy Cross men's golf team finished fourth at the 2010 NEIGA Championship, held at the Captain's Golf Course in Brewster, Mass. As a team, the Crusaders finished with 598 strokes for the two-day event.

Andrade would tally his first top-10 performance of the season, leading the team individually for the second time this season. Sophomore Steve Zychowski (Mendham, N.J.) finished next, scoring a 147 to finish tied for eighth place. Sophomore Michael McCarthy (Tolland, Conn.) and senior James Widman (Middlebury, Conn.) followed with a 153 and a 158 respectively. Senior Tim McGovern (Oradell, N.J.) rounded out the team's performances with a two-round score of 160.

Rhode Island was crowned the 2010 NEIGA Champions with 585 strokes. Connecticut's Adam Vaccari and Central Connecticut's Kevin Josephson tied for the individual title, finishing with 143 strokes.

With the end of today's performance the Holy Cross men's golf team had completed its fall portion of the season. The spring slate will be announced at a later date.
