WORCESTER, Mass. – Senior Tim McGovern (Oradell, N.J.) won his first ever co-medalist honor, tying with Worcester State's Bob Bruso for first place as the Holy Cross men's golf team tied for first with the Lancers out of 13 teams at the Bison Invitational, held at the Green Hill Golf Course in Worcester, Mass. McGovern posted a career low round of 73 as Holy Cross combined for a score of 308, taking home the Bison Invitational team title.
The Crusaders had three performers place within the top 10 individual performances. Junior Andrew Wong (Wailuku, Hawaii) tied for fifth with a career low round of 77 while senior John Weber (Branford, Conn.) tied for eighth with a season-best round of 78. Sophomore Roberto Machado (Miami, Fla.) and freshman Tim DiStefano (Albany, N.Y.) rounded out the team's tallies with a 80 and 84 respectively.
Thirteen regional squads competed in the event as Endicott placed third with a 315. Completing competition was UMass-Dartmouth (317), Johnson & Wales (324), Providence (325), Nichols (327), Western New England (327), Anna Maria (328), Rhode Island College (328), Tufts (330), Wentworth (345) and Suffolk (358).
Holy Cross continues its 2010 fall slate at the Northeast Invitational on Oct. 16-17. The event will be held at the Shelter Harbor Golf Club in Charlestown, R.I.
