Men's Golf Set to Compete For 2010 MacDonald Cup

  • The Holy Cross men's golf team is wrapping up competition in the Hartford Invitational today. The team sits in 13th place with 319 strokes as senior Colin Andrade (Assonet, Mass.) leads the squad with a low-round of 73, his lowest round so far this season. He sits in a tie for eighth individually as well. Connecticut leads the pack of 15 teams right now with 290 strokes.
  • The team continues action this upcoming weekend at the MacDonald Cup, held at the Course of Yale in New Haven, Conn. The event will span from Saturday through Sunday, Oct. 2-3, with tee time set for 8:00 a.m. each day.
  • Sophomore Steve Zychowski (Mendham, N.J.) led the team for the first time in his collegiate career at last year's MacDonald Cup. He finished the event with a two-round score of 221 and had a tournament low round of 72 on the third round after starting off with a 75. He tied for 44th individually while Holy Cross finished in 15th place with 908 strokes. His 72 was also a low round for him on the entire season
  • Andrade marked the team's lowest round in last year's MacDonald Cup, scoring a 70 in the second round. He finished the event in a tie for 56th with a 226.
