SOUTH KENT, Conn. – Senior Colin Andrade (Assonet, Mass.) marked a two round score of 154, including a season-low round of 73 on the first day, as the Holy Cross men's golf team finished 14th at the Hartford Invitational, held at the Bull's Bridge Golf Club in South Kent, Conn. As a team, the Crusaders finished with 643 strokes for the two-day event, which was shortened to 36 holes due to inclement weather.
Andrade would collect the 73 and then marked an 81 in the second round, finishing in a tie for 29th to lead the golf team individually for the first time this season. Sophomore Mike McCarthy (Tolland, Conn.) finished next, scoring a 161 to tie for 56th. Sophomore Steve Zychowski (Mendham, N.J.) and senior Tim McGovern (Oradell, N.J.) followed with a 164 while freshman Tim DiStefano (Albany, N.Y.) rounded out the performances with a 176.
St. John's won the invitational with 585 strokes. Host team Hartford's D.J. Lantz took the individual crown, finishing with 142 strokes.
The Crusaders are next in action on Oct. 2-3 at the MacDonald Cup. The event will be held at The Course at Yale in New Haven, Conn.
