Men's Golf Finishes Sixth At Blue Devil Invitational

WETHERSFIELD, Conn. – Sophomore Steve Zychowski (Mendham, N.J.) marked a two round score of 147, including a low round of 72 on the second day, leading the Holy Cross men's golf team individually for the first time this season and helping the squad to a sixth place finish at the Blue Devil Invitational, held at Wethersfield Country Club in Wethersfield, Conn. Zychowski's score of 147 placed him sixth individually. As a team, the Crusaders finished with 608 strokes for the two-day event.

Holy Cross was in sixth place after Sunday's first round as Zychowski and senior Colin Andrade (Assonet, Mass.) marked a score of 75 to lead the team, tying for ninth. Zychowski would tab a 72 on the second day while Andrade marked a 76 in the final round to finish in a tie for 18th place. Sophomore Michael McCarthy (Tolland, Conn.) and senior James Widman (Middlebury, Conn.) rounded out Holy Cross' top-30 finishers as they each tallied a two-round score of 156 to finish 30th. Sophomore Roberto Machado (Miami, Fla.) was the final competitor for the Crusaders in the event, marking a 161. 

Host Central Connecticut won the invitational with 576 strokes. Blue Devil Kevin Joesephson won the individual title with a two-round score of 141 (one under par).

The Crusaders are next in action on Sept. 27-28 at the Hartford Invitational. The event will be held at the Bull's Bridge Country Club in Hartford, Conn.
